What are your hours of operation?

We are open 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday through Friday, Saturday 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday.

Where are you located?

We are located at 1490 Ketelsen Drive, Hiawatha, IA. We are located just north of Boyson Road off Centerpoint Road next to Ketelsen RV.

What do I need to purchase a long gun?

To purchase a long gun in Iowa, you will need to be at least 18 years old. You will need government issued picture identification to confirm identity and government issued identification/documentation that confirms your current address. A valid drivers license with your current address will satisfy both requirements.

What do I need to purchase a handgun?

To purchase a handgun in Iowa, you will need to be at least 21 years old and be an Iowa resident.  You will need government issued picture identification to confirm identity and government issued identification/documentation that confirms your current address and Iowa residency. A valid Iowa Driver License with your current address will satisfy the photo identification, current address, and Iowa residency requirements.

Where do I apply for an Iowa Permit to Acquire or an Iowa Permit to Carry?

To apply for either an Iowa Permit to Acquire or an Iowa Permit to Carry, you must go to the Sheriff’s Office in the county which you reside. You will be required to fill out some paperwork to facilitate a background check, show valid government identification to confirm your identity, and show proof of your current address. The Iowa Permit to Acquire generally costs $20 and the Iowa Permit to Carry Weapons generally costs $55. Many Sheriff departments only accept cash.

I have a permit. Do I still need to fill out the paperwork to purchase a firearm?

Yes. All customers must complete a Form 4473 prior to purchasing any firearm. The Iowa Permit to Acquire or the Iowa Permit to Carry is an exemption from conducting a FBI NICS check, but is not an exemption from completing a Form 4473.

Do you do FFL Transfers?

As a rule, we do not. We may make exceptions in the case of a charity event, military unit firearm, or special events. All transfers must have prior approval, or the firearm will be returned to the sender.

Indoor Range

How much does it cost to shoot in the indoor range?

We charge $17.99 per hour to use the range.

Do I have to be a member?

Yes, we require all shooters on the range become members. Membership costs $14.99 per year for individuals, $19.99 for families. Members are will attend an orientation that includes range rules and safety briefing. Members receive a free pair of shooting glasses, and will be able to take advantage of other promotions and specials held throughout the year.

How many lanes are in your indoor range?

We have 19 lanes complete with modern ballistic shooting booths and automated target retrieval systems.

How do I become a member?

It is easy. Just stop into the store and attend an orientation. Orientations are offered on an as needed basis. You do not need an appointment.

I am not a US Citizen.  Can I shoot on your range?

Foreign Nationals may shoot on the range if one of the following criteria is met:

  1. Visitor is an approved member of the Visa Waiver Program. Vistor must provide proof of their status with passport Visa Waiver stamp or an email/letter from the Visa Waiver Program.
    Citizens of following countries may fall within the Visa Waiver Program:

    Estonia
